Appointments to NAMA Northern Ireland Advisory Committee (NIAC)

Following consultation with Mr Michael Noonan TD, Minister for Finance, and Mr Sammy Wilson MLA, Minister for Finance and Personnel, NAMA has reappointed Mr Frank Cushnahan and Mr Brian Rowntree to its Northern Ireland Advisory Committee (NIAC) for a further period of two years to 15 April 2014. Mr Cushnahan and Mr Rowntree have both served on the Committee since its inception.

The Chairman of NAMA, Mr Frank Daly, has welcomed the appointments. Mr Daly said:

“Frank Cushnahan and Brian Rowntree have provided extremely valuable input to NAMA on the development and implementation of its strategy for dealing with our Northern Ireland portfolio. I am grateful that they are willing to continue working with us for a further term and I know that their knowledge and advice will be of great benefit to us as we move into the asset management phase of our operations.”

The role of the Northern Ireland Advisory Committee is to make recommendations to the Board of NAMA concerning its strategy related to Northern Ireland assets and to provide a view on the impact of the implementation of that strategy.

Commenting on the re-appointments, Minister Noonan said:

“I would like to thank Frank Cushnahan and Brian Rowntree for agreeing to continue serving on NAMA’s Northern Ireland Advisory Committee.  I see this Committee as having a very important role in assisting NAMA to meet its objectives on both sides of the border.  It is very important that NAMA, like other agencies, acts on an all-island basis.”
